Smoky Mountain Christmas Memories is an opportunity for families to revisit the Christmas season of a century past, celebrating family, faith and the nature of giving through song, story and sharing. Together they will visit the GSM Heritage Center after it has been dressed for the season by area garden clubs and have the opportunity to make old-time tree decorations, taste holiday recipes from that same era and sing the songs of our great-great-grandparents. | More Detail

Smoky Mountain Christmas Memories is a three day event that partners Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center volunteers and staff with area garden clubs, performing arts groups and the general public to celebrate the season in a salute to Christmas past. Three area garden clubs decorate the Heritage Centers main building, entry, walkways and historic cabins in period Christmas dcor. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Center will host school and church youth choral groups, offer young visitors the opportunity to make decorations for the Centers Lobby Tree, provide free refreshments, and the chance to view old-fashioned Christmas preparations as volunteers make candles, holiday decorations and bake assorted seasonal goodies over the open hearth. In addition, Center members and their families will enjoy a special music program on Friday evening, and each child will take home a special holiday gift. On Saturday, a drama workshop will be held for children, followed by a special Christmas presentation on-stage.
